Navy M1 helmet (D-Day, Philipines, Okinawa vet)

I was very excited to get this helmet today. It is a front seam fixed bail M1 helmet painted Navy gray. It is named four times in the liner to Robert "Mac" Maclellan. Maclellan drove a landing craft onto Utah beach at Normandy on H-Hour June 6, 1944 and then went to the Philippines and Okinawa for the beach landings there. I found his uniform is located at the Maine Military Museum. I included a picture of his uniform from their website.

Looks right to me from these pictures.

 

Where did it come from?

I traded it for some items at a militaria shop in Charlotte, NC.
