sundance Posted December 20, 2019 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2019 Great shot. It's the digging for mines part that is so unsettling.

BILL THE PATCH Posted December 20, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted December 20, 2019 I guess a medic would be handy, he's a little to close to be if any help if it went KaBoom. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
nirvana Posted January 12, 2020 Share #5 Posted January 12, 2020 It seems like black soldiers often got assigned the worst jobs back when the army was segregated. I worked with a gentleman some years back who was as part of a unit that handled ordnance. Obviously there were some combat units towards the end of the war, but that seems to have been an afterthought. A very interesting era in history. irish Posted January 12, 2020 Share #6 Posted January 12, 2020 Another example would be the Port Chicago Disaster during WW2 where a disproportionate high number of black enlisted men were killed.

ken88 Posted January 13, 2020 Share #8 Posted January 13, 2020 Sergeant has relatively large chevrons on his lid for WW2, no? Here's a helmet I've had for a while just out of interest; can't tell if it's an overzealous pfc marking or some kind of tactical marking no one knows about. Burning Hazard Posted January 14, 2020 Share #9 Posted January 14, 2020 Large insignia was common; I noticed a lot were typically units behind lines for easy identification. Pat
gap Posted January 22, 2020 Share #10 Posted January 22, 2020 Here is my front seam, swivel bail with rather large private stripe. White paint is old and original. Do you guys think it could be WW2?
