robinb Posted December 11, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2019 I know these are not uncommon, but I think they are with a 1948 date.

Charlie Flick Posted December 11, 2019 Share #4 Posted December 11, 2019 Yep, that is the "Case, Accessory and Spare Parts, M1918". There is an excellent thread on the BAR accessories in the Firearms Reference Section started by our late friend and fellow Member, Craig Pickrall. Here it is: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/627-bar-parts-accessories/ Regards, Charlie

RustyCanteen Posted December 14, 2019 Share #8 Posted December 14, 2019 Interesting, not one I have seen. In a way I am surprised they would feel the need to contract for more of these, given the apparently enormous quantity produced in WWII that would have been hitting the surplus market in the late 1940s and early 1950s. For some reason the surplus WWII examples were sought after by teenage girls it seems, to use as small purses (and often have dozens of classmate names written on them). It figures though that someone in charge would contract for a new batch while they were sitting on a good stock of them already.
