Thank you very much for your research.

I do not remember how I got this mess kit, but it is keeped for a long time in my collection.

Interesting to learn that the soldier became a religious man… probably the consequence of his war expériences.

Thanks again

Francis

BTW Cy D of the 306th MGB was not involved in the Lost battalion episode as only A, B & C Cies were in the Charleveau Pocket.

You have a great looking mess kit also!!

I don't know where you obtained this info but I have a list of all men who were part of the lost battalion. This list is part of the 308th Infantry Regiment history book. This book lists 40 men assigned to Co. D 306th MG batt that were part of the lost battalion. Here are some pics of the book.

Here is a page that lists the names of soldiers who were assigned to the 306th Co. D MGB that were part of the Lost Batt.

Unfortunately your soldier and mine are not listed.

You are right... my mistake , sorry

One have to turn seven times one's tongue in one's mouth before asserting something...

Members of C & D Cy of the 306th MGB were Indeed involved in the LB episode.

No apologies necessary !!

I think it is really interesting that we have two mess kits for two guys in the Great War that probably ate a few meals together.

My mess kit was found in Suffolk Virginia.

Thank you Matt for the ID.

You're welcome Chris. Yes, they may've shared a meal together which is pretty neat. Indeed his war experiences may've very well lead to him becoming a religious leader.
