Old Marine Posted December 4, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2019 Brian posted these photos of a VW used by the US Army in the post war era. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/331877-us-army-volkswagen/ Based on Brian's posted photos I out dug out this old kit of a German Army VW Type 87 Command Car that I had on the shelf for years. I chose to depict this car as being used by the US Army in the immediate post war era, summer 1945. This model is set sometime after just after VE day when there was time for repainting vehicles and hunting for souvenirs and foraging. This Sergeant has a back seat full of souvenirs and other trading stock. It was a fun project Here are some photos. Thanks for looking. Old Marine Posted December 4, 2019 Author Share #8 Posted December 4, 2019 Another Reference photo I found online. The vehicle in the front is not a VW877 but it's similar. The GIs used a lot of German vehicles at the end of the war.
