SARGE Posted March 8, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 8, 2007 Here is a Sons of Union Veterans coat from the late 1800s. This coat is the same regulation uniform as that designated for the parent organizatin of the SUV, the Grand Army of the Republic. The only changes between the two related organizations is the badge on the cap, the hilt on the sword, the plate on the belt, and the buttons on the suit according to the supplier, Simmons & Company. Here is a closeup view of the SUV buttons on this coat. The SUV coat is styled after then current military regulations. It is therefore cut like the five button Army fatigue blouse. Here is a view of the back of the coat showing the sack coat cut. Anyone with other SUV uniforms or accouterments?
