268th C.A. Posted November 23, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2019 Heres my dog tag, at first when I found it I thought the usual tag used for a screw driver, We have all seen them, After getting home and researching a little, I find him in Korea 7th Marines 1st Marine Division (ancestry roster) Winstead Willi William T. 1120403ad gold star in lieu of second Purple Heart 1 Jan 52 by 00 7th Marines 1st Mar Div I don't think he was KIA so why a Gold Star...I also thought maybe this was on his temporary grave marker tag ??. experts chime in, Regards David
bobgee Posted November 23, 2019 Share #2 Posted November 23, 2019 Hey David! Miss you out here in Texas. Hope you've settled in up East. The Gold Star on USMC/USN awards signify additional awards just like the OLC on Army decs. Best Regards - Bob

Wharfmaster Posted November 27, 2019 Share #4 Posted November 27, 2019 I have a tag much like this. Has been on a key ring for years and used as a screwdriver. Your man passed away in 2010. See Find A Grave. Wharf
