I am not a serious WW2 or helmet collector but took a chance on this one based on the reasonable price.

Any thoughts are appreciated-- don't worry about hurting my feelings!

I did a quick check on the National Archives site and did find the soldier w/ service number listed. And YES, Hazel can be a man's name!

Thanks again for any thoughts-- let me know if additional photos/ information is needed.

Based on the paint and the serial number I'd think this is likely either a helmet issued to him post WWII or at the very least refurbished post WWII. It's still a nice set, especially if the price was right!

These subdued rank insignia were very common during the Korean War. I own one myself, and there have been multiple posted on the forum. Great helmet! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Costa, Nick and Hunt-- appreciate the quick response and the great information.

I was able to find the guys grave (Columbia, SC), but it didn't have any military annotations. I guess my best bet is to research him to get his full story in WW2 and Korea.

Thanks again.
