Need help to ID this lapel pin/unit badge

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

This is from a 8th AF ball turret gunner who also served in the regular Army in late 30's early 40's prior to going to the USAAF, He was KIA on April 13th 1944 on a mission to Schweinfurt.

Could someone tell me if this is AAF or USA?

Thanks

Phil

Thank you Both,

So Technical trainig command,

OK I looked that up and see it is a stateside training command.

So is this a lapel or for the garrison /overseas cap type pin?

The DI could be worn on the lapel below the collar discs or on the side of an overseas hat. It was the proper configuration to move the DI to the Epaulet/shoulder of the uniform during the post World War II period like in the photo that was posted in this thread by patches

Photo probably is from sometime in very late 1946 into 1947, juusst before the AF guys start to wear the new AF EM Ranks on their IKE's
