rhill13 Posted November 21, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2019 I have no experience with WW1 uniforms. Does this look right? I bought it at a vintage/retro store. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

everforward Posted November 21, 2019 Share #8 Posted November 21, 2019 Very nice. Would have been issued when the Division returned from France.
KurtA Posted November 21, 2019 Share #9 Posted November 21, 2019 Very nice. Would have been issued when the Division returned from France. I'd guess it was issued "over there." Patch looks theater-made, not US.

I’d say you may be right on the patch’s origins, yes......and probably part of his kit and other items that returned home with him to the US....once here it was sewn on this cotton uniform which was issued and worn while he mustered out of the Army....It is possible that the soldier could have removed it from the wool uniform he wore while steaming home and later applied it to this summer-weight coat, along with the overseas stripes and one of the three red discharge chevrons each soldier was issued. rhill13 Posted November 22, 2019 Author Share #11 Posted November 22, 2019 Thanks for the input. Is the only way to find the owner through names written inside? I havent found any names. Just a few stamps of maybe a size.
