Flight jacket opinions

Recommended Posts

Hi. I have always been intrigued by the ww2 painted flight jackets and usually dont dive into things without a lot of research but I did here. I purchased this at an online auction, just wondering what people think?

Can you get a better picture of the paint on the back?

I think it looks good or 70% convinced that the paint is period.

I'll be honest, it's really hard to say for sure. Painted Navy jackets are almost non existent due to their regulations against it.

I question why it has "Sq." in front of VF-3. I don't ever recall seeing it written that way in any of the period documents I've seen. Fighting Squadron Three or VF-3 would be the norm. But Sq. VF-3???
