I picked this mint never used survival vest and a few components at the flea market for 35 dollars. I don't know that much about this stuff but appears to be something a helicopter crewman would wear so they could get hoisted to the ground. I was wondering if this was something USAF pararescue personnel would wear?

Its a CMU-33 AIRSAVE survival vest. Was used by the Army, Navy and Marine Corps. Navy still uses newer versions of it in coyote brown color but most Navy and Marine units have newer armor survival vests now. This setup is for rotary wing and non ejection seat aircraft. A complete vest would have 5 of the General Pockets, 1 Radio Pocket, 1 Knife Pocket, that CBR attachment H strap and a flashlight keeper strap. Looks like you have most of that minus the Knife Pocket and 1 General. The flashlight keeper is on the vest next to the zipper below the LPU attachment ring. This wasn't used by AF PJs nor was this style used by the USAF for aircrews but they actually are starting to use their own version of the AIRSAVE, again now in a Coyote tan color. Even with the 2 missing pockets, you got a pretty good deal at $35. You can find the original -10 manual for them on ebay.

Many thanks for the detailed explanation.
