Picked up this little gem at the Gettysburg show a couple of weeks ago. It fits nicely in my I.D. Badge and Disc collection. Ive never seen an I.D. ring made out of Gutta percha. It has a silver inlay cannon with J.L.Bassett engraved on it also several corps badge inlays. J.L. Bassett served in the 16th and 60th Illinois from 1861 to1865 in the western theater. The dealer I purchased it from bought it from a family member. post-137056-0-49445700-1573655349.jpeg

Thanks Matt. It has 4 Corps badges 2 third corps diamonds and 2 first corps disc. At first being naturally skeptical, I was thinking it was probably an artillery guy who was in the first or third corps. I asked the dealer I purchased it from and he assured me it was the soldier in the Illinois units. The family tie was solid. None the less I searched it out as best as I could and using C.W. Data.I was unable to come up wait a matching artillery guy in the first or third corps. Further J.L.Bassett comes up as described in the 16th and 60th.post-137056-0-67544900-1573669939.jpegpost-137056-0-35512200-1573669961.jpeg
