British made wings, WW1 or WW2?

This device appears to be US made and looks like one of the pieces worn by aviation cadets on their overseas caps.

 

WWI collar devices were bronze and then they were made in gilt after WWI.

I see, I was thinking it was British made by the type of clasp, I wasn't even thinking interwar period or cap device, that would explain it's size. Thank you!!
