SKIPH Posted November 11, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2019 Hey Gang! Just found this wooden handled "prototype" UTICA M4 bayonet. Ebay # 233399121925. Seller has a "Buy Now" price of $799.99. The bayonet is nice, has the replacement wooden grips we've seen before, or own. For the new collectors, these were refurbished in the 1950s after the leather washers deteriorated. They are not worth $800. Most you will see are in very good, to excellent condition. Seller probably doesn't know much about M4s, and has a mixed bag of items he sells. But, prototype it is not. I do not know the seller. If someone could post the ad it would be appreciated. Study your hobby! SKIP

Ray42 Posted November 12, 2019 Share #6 Posted November 12, 2019 Out of curiosity what would be a reasonably price for one of these? I know an antique store that has had one for around 400$ for quite a while, is that more reasonable or still too high?
sactroop Posted November 12, 2019 Share #7 Posted November 12, 2019 I think this is the first time I've seen a WD marked M8A1 sheath without a metal tip protector. Then again WD's have a reputation for being at least a bit mysterious.
thorin6 Posted November 12, 2019 Share #8 Posted November 12, 2019 I think they generally sell for $150-175 in this condition, pretty much unused. People tend to ask more (and much more apparently) but they don't sell.
SKIPH Posted November 12, 2019 Author Share #9 Posted November 12, 2019 Price wise, I've seen from $150-$225. Have also seen one, in the box, go for around $400, (Northridge International). These, and other military knives, bayonets, were selling for $5.00 back in the late 60s. Folks need to keep in mind these are refurbished M4 bayonets, not as originally issued. schmooser Posted November 13, 2019 Share #10 Posted November 13, 2019 Bought one for $60 off offerup in Miami a few years back. Seem to remember they were Korean- rehandled?
SKIPH Posted November 13, 2019 Author Share #11 Posted November 13, 2019 Just a personal observation. For what ever reason, it seems the majority of these I see tend to be Camillus. The one in question is a Utica, but Camillus seem to be the majority of the ones available in the boxes. SKIP
