The Rooster Posted November 11, 2019 #1 Posted November 11, 2019 Greetings all. I was able to score this lid tonight. Its unique in that it has something in it that Ive read about but never seen.
The Rooster Posted November 11, 2019 Author #2 Posted November 11, 2019 2 Its got all its pads and straps.
The Rooster Posted November 11, 2019 Author #3 Posted November 11, 2019 Under the pads its got a Trauma sensor. When it comes in, I'l update this with better pics of the sensor. I'l see what I can find out about these in the interim.
aznation Posted November 11, 2019 #4 Posted November 11, 2019 Wow, that's pretty neat Dave. I've never seen nor heard of those before. Cool!
The Rooster Posted November 11, 2019 Author #5 Posted November 11, 2019 Wow, that's pretty neat Dave. I've never seen nor heard of those before. Cool! Thank you Matt! Ive been reading a little about these. Very little in fact but Im going to see what I can find out. Apparently if you are injured in say an IED blast, they can measure the force etc etc registered on the helmet. Not sure what good that does? But Its interesting for sure. https://www.army.mil/article/26829/helmet_sensors_providing_data_that_may_decrease_brain_injury https://sftt.org/military-helmet-sensors-big-contracts-but-no-findings/
The Rooster Posted November 11, 2019 Author #6 Posted November 11, 2019 What is this in my soldiers ACH ? https://www.reddit.com/r/army/comments/6wo22m/what_is_this_electronic_piece_in_my_soldiers_ach/

Thats my understanding of it anyway. Maybe some others who have actually used these can fill in the blanks.
The Rooster Posted November 11, 2019 Author #8 Posted November 11, 2019 8 year old video off of youtube. Concearning the sensors.
RedLegGI Posted November 11, 2019 #9 Posted November 11, 2019 Nice lid and harder to find with the TBI sensors. These were issued out to units within the 101st for trial during one of their deployments. This is either the second or third generation sensor they trials with the first one being an externally mounted version.
eagle mtn Posted December 13, 2024 #10 Posted December 13, 2024 Refresh to an old topic I remember these STUPID things! Typical government idea that looks good on paper, but was a complete waste of time once it got issued. My company was given these for our 13-14 Afghanistan deployment. These things made our helmets heavier and gave false readings all the time. One of the tech reps for this project came by our COP about once a month to collect data from them. Every time he did he would harp at us that the battery was always dead. I guess the fact we were running missions nonstop in the freezing mountains didn’t clue him into the fact that we didn’t have time and definitely did not care. I think one of the final straws was when we had come back from a two-day mission and he was there expecting us to see him first (instead of chow, bed, cigarettes, etc) as we come back in the wire. Our first sergeant finally blew his stack at the guy and we never saw him again.
