TrenchRat Posted November 6, 2019 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2019 Good day all, I happened to have been going thru some of my excess pre WWI field gear and came across this early Mills (pre 1916 Olive Drab) 1910 dismounted belt. I have had this belt for some time but never popped the snap until today. I found that the pockets have the typical eagle snap fasteners on the outside flap but have on the inside, the LTD receiver such as found on early Eagle Snap canteen covers (see pic'). Question, how common is this? I must have at least a half dozen 1910 model eagle snap belts dating from 1912 thru 1916, in the early OD, pea green and a few in the later khaki (1917 ?), and this is the only one with this type closure. Any thoughts?
TrenchRat Posted November 6, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted November 6, 2019 I might add that there is no mention of this type closure in Dorsey's book...
jprostak Posted November 8, 2019 Share #3 Posted November 8, 2019 Is it a Mills belt or a Russell made belt?
