Are these 4 photos the same man?

The one image at the desk is posted twice by accident.

Any opinions are welcome.

The portrait of the captain and the captain at his desk are the same man.

But the other 2 photos can’t be him.

I am being told they are him.

I see a square and a round jaw.

Here is another photo with an ID to the two Captain photos.

This photo was taken in 1937.

The captain pictures are from the early 50s.

They are pictures of John David Porter who served with the 442nd in WW2, Army back seat spotter in the Mosquitos USAF as well as the 5th RCT Korea.

Recipient of the SS for action taken at outpost Harry.

A man who put himself in harms way.

Its very hard to tell if they are the same person or not, some of the features like the ears and eyebrows look very similar but the jawline looks different. I couldn't say for sure one way or the other.

Thank you for replying.

The picture of the Captain Porter shows a slight dip in the left ear compared to the guy in the plane.

I want them to be the same man but I have doubts.

If it is him there is a good chance that he was in the 108th observer squadron of the 33rd ID in the 1930s.

its very hard to tell I see similarities but with the quality of the picture of him in the captains uniform being poor it makes it very difficult. If there was a higher quality version of that photo online it might give us a better indication. I have my doubts a well.

The guy in the plane looking over his left shoulder has a mole or possibly a sore on the side of his nose that’s not in any of the other photos. Maybe it’s on the canopy.

It’s hard to tell, I see similarities but it’s hard to make a positive ID.

To me the guy in the plane looks nothing like the Captain in the first photograph or sitting at the desk. Totally different to me. Just my opinion.

I’m leaning heavy to not being the same guy.

And in that spirit Im sure that the two fellows in the different planes are different people too.

What was Porters connection to these men?

I think the guy in the plane in both photographs are the same person.

At this point I'm not sure what Porters connection to the person in the plane is.

Porter was living in Chicago in the 1930s.

There is a document from 1941, in the collection, from the National Guard.

He is made a Second Lt.

Had one of the men in the planes been Porter that would have made him an EM at one time.

It also might directly place him in the 108th Observer Squadron of the 33rd ID.

I’m assuming that the seller is correct, that these photos did come from the Porter-estate.

I do not have these photos nor will I ever at their current price.

There is this group in the collection which appears to place Porter in the 33rd ID as an officer in the 131st IR.
