yves-croc Posted December 16, 2025 #58 Posted December 16, 2025 Hi, May be one of the most rare 1960s coveralls, Prototype MK5 suit with built-in life jacket. This model was studied by the Aerospace Crew Equipment Laboratory (ACEL) in 1965-66 but abandoned because it was considered too uncomfortable. Best Croc

RVR Posted December 17, 2025 #61 Posted December 17, 2025 Besides collecting amazing flight suits, also a fan of VA-34 @hink441 or just luck to find tree of these squadrons suits? Like them all, very nice squadron insignia!

Like them all, very nice squadron insignia! Thank you for your kind comments. I am a retired Navy aviation CPO and worked on A-6s and F-14s for many years. I was in several squadrons and tend to collect these items. I knew this Skipper of VA-34 and also have two of his flight helmets.
hink441 Posted December 17, 2025 Author #63 Posted December 17, 2025 Here is a picture of the Skipper’s helmet from VA-34 and here is the link to the post. https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/333823-blue-blaster-helmet/#comment-2681830

Have a good week end, everyone.

yves-croc Posted December 20, 2025 #68 Posted December 20, 2025 Hi, This is from the F14 Tomcat "Father" Scott Lamoreaux, VF 84 CO during 1965 Vietnam tour. In August of 1968 he became the VFX Program Coordinator in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D. C. The VFX became the F-14 Tomcat. After completing four years in the Pentagon assuring that the F-14 would successfully enter the fleet, then Captain Lamoreaux became; Commander Fleet Air Miramar and finally the first, Commander, Fighter & Airborne Early Warning Wings, Pacific Fleet. Captain Lamoreaux retired from the U.S. Navy in August of 1974 after thirty years and confident that the F-14 Tomcat would be as successful as it had been planned. joined Hughes Aircraft Company in late August 1974 and continued to assure that the F-14 would be adequately supported in the fleet. In April of 1977, Mr. Lamoreaux went to Iran to head up the Hughes support of the Iranian Air Force F-14's. He remained in Iran till after the Shah had departed and assured that all of Hughes interests were safely and adequately relocated in 1978.
