Original 101st airborne M42 jacket?

Recommended Posts

Since I've never owned a m42 jacket before, I'd like your opinions about this jacket.

Is it original?

If so, why and how can I see it?

It has a lot of repairs, so it's not a mint one, but that doesn't matter.

What type is the patch by the way?

Every input is welcome.

Somehow all the images are turned, while I saved them in portrait format.

Apologies for the error.

You're looking at an original jump jacket with a LOT of field repairs and staining. Obviously, it is missing the belt which affects value and the zipper does appear to have been replaced. The repairs are consistent with Quartermaster repairs though. The 101st SSI is a DOG. Someone has added it to the jacket to enhance the value. It is an original 101st SSI, but it does not date back to WWII.

The shoulder patch has the post war blue border.

Is this a purchase you are considering?

If so what is the asking price?

It is indeed a purchase I'm considering.

The jacket has 2 laundry marks inside and the asking price is around $1200.

What do you think?

Is the zipper a wartime example (despite being replaced)?

$1200 is way too much for a jacket with these issues. They are desirable items, but not really all that rare. Hold out for a better example. They are out there

I will pay top dollar for original WWII items pertaining to:

OSS

OSS Maritime Unit

NCDU

UDT

Scouts and Raiders

FSSF

$1200 is little steep.

+1 Ive seen nicer ones sold on here for less. Having post war SSI takes away from the value to me. Not to mention all the repairs and missing the belt.

I agree that the price is unreasonable.

Even at 800 I would be out.
