Stated on the news, pilot was one of the more experienced when it came to flying vintage aircraft....I'm assuming this was for the B-17's....Seven died, but six survived....Very sad to hear...Bodes

Definitely sad and giving thoughts and prayers. I guess as far as the plane goes there’s two or more on the road to flightworthy status. I know the one bellied in and burned a few years ago in the Midwest is supposed to used to put one back in the air. Or so I read. That wreck at least had no casualties. Still, an irreplaceable aircraft and even more irreplaceable people. Why do these things burn so badly when this happens? Seems like every time one has this happen it’s nearly a total loss. Is it the amount of fuel on board or is there magnesium as part of an alloy in a lot of parts or what? Missed the first thread in this before posting.
