Fixbayonets! Posted September 30, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2019 This pair of Jungle boots are still dusty and recently out of the Vietnam veteran's footlocker. They are a regular issue pair of 1967 dated jungle boots with added lace in zippers and grenade pull rings. The laces are tied just as the veteran left them. Just thought I would share what I think are a pretty cool pair of kicks. Thanks for checking them out! Rob

McDermut99 Posted September 30, 2019 Share #6 Posted September 30, 2019 Very interesting! They look like they were meant to be taken on/off quickly. Would you happen to know what the vet did in Vietnam?
Fixbayonets! Posted September 30, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted September 30, 2019 Thanks! He was with the USAF and I believe he served at an airbase in Thailand. Rob
McDermut99 Posted September 30, 2019 Share #8 Posted September 30, 2019 That makes sense, he must've found the grenade rings to work well while wearing gloves and possibly limited visibility/accessibility.

Fixbayonets! Posted September 30, 2019 Author Share #10 Posted September 30, 2019 That makes sense, he must've found the grenade rings to work well while wearing gloves and possibly limited visibility/accessibility. That's possible but I think it was more to do with his sense of style than for functionality purposes. For instance, he has jungle fatigues that were heavily modified by in country tailors. All of his fatigues have Thai made insignia on them. He went out of his way to have a ERDL cap in country made and he camo painted the liner of his helmet to match his ERDL fatigues. I think he was just that kind of guy who liked the "look". It would all make one hell of a mannequin display! Rob
