ncweo Posted January 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2009 I bought this about 25 years ago for 50 cents. I've never seen another one and I was wondering what type of ruck this is?? I tried to look it up by the number. It must be close to a tropical ruck sack, that is what kept coming up, but the numbers aren't the same. Do any of these numbers tell the date. Inside the flap is stamped: Rucksack, nylon duck DSA-100-2224 8465-782-3248
DiGilio Posted January 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 2, 2009 Its a Lightweight Rucksack which were made during the Vietnam war. The no date in the DSA number probably means it was made 1965 or 1966. LW rucks use a alluminum tubular frame. Go to vietnamgear.com for more info. Duffy Posted January 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted January 2, 2009 You have a lightweight nylon rucksack, it's missing it's aluminum frame though. Most of the time that you have an undated example, the year of manufacture would run around 1965-1966. If it is in decent shape, then you have a nice piece, you just need a frame.
