Davis shortly after the squadron was formed at NAS Quonset Point, Rhode Island. Ens. Davis and his crew were lost at sea while flying a night training mission in the Atlantic.Carrier Air Group (Night) Ninety One deployed aboard Bon Homme Richard from 22 May 45 To 30 Sept. 45 with two squadrons: VF(N)-91 and VT(N)-91. They were then joined by Carrier Air Group Fifty Two on 5 Oct.45, for return to the Continental United States. To read about the evolution of night squadrons, see here: Odell, William C.
