VT(N)-91 patch was designed by Ens. B. B. Davis shortly after the squadron was formed at NAS Quonset Point, Rhode Island. Ens. Davis and his crew were lost at sea while flying a night training mission in the Atlantic.

Carrier Air Group (Night) Ninety One deployed aboard Bon Homme Richard from 22 May 45 To 30 Sept. 45 with two squadrons: VF(N)-91 and VT(N)-91. They were then joined by Carrier Air Group Fifty Two on 5 Oct.45, for return to the Continental United States.
