kpl1 Posted September 9, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2019 Hello, I have picked this helmet last week, I have noticed the JSS mark on the inside and know this is an British marking. Is this a British made M1917A1 helmet or is it more likely that the helmet and the liner where brought together post-wa2r by a fellow collector with a spare liner? Eightball Posted September 9, 2019 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2019 To me it looks like a standard British MK11 'Tommy' helmet with U.S. strap and liner added to it.
edstorey Posted September 9, 2019 Share #5 Posted September 9, 2019 There is a very good possibility that this combination of a British Mk II Helmet with a US M1917A1 Liner is legitimate as I have two post-SWW Canadian examples that originated from Civil Defence stocks. The Canadian Government bought surplus Mk II Helmets and married them up with surplus US M1917A1 Liners for CD use.
