The forum has many threads on the topic of original covers, I recommend comparing yours to those originals until you begin to notice the little differences. I see chain stitching and the "zigzag" stitching on the brown side, just like originals. In fact, I have a cover in my collection that has essentially the same green side subdued brown colored spots. The cover I have is real and there is no reason for me to doubt its authenticity. I have collected USMC covers sine the late 1950's and have seen many color variations. Posting pictures on this forum certainly wouldn't convince me it is a reproduction, especially with some of the erroneous opinions I have seen over the years from some of the members here. Sorry if you have one in your collection Just like it - Dean Dean, I didn't say it was exactly like it, it has the color variations seen on genuine camouflage HBT material from WWII. The type seen on one-piece camo suits and the two-piece US camo uniforms. Sometimes the dyes came out as a softer brown than the predominant "chocolate" color brown usually seen. I only suggested that an in-person examination might be warranted, By the way, is not the stitching on the brown-side seam, chain stitching, as it should be? It appears to me it is from the photographs. The edge stitching along the brown-side also has the saw-tooth appearance commonly seen on original pieces. Everyone points to the stitching on the example shown, but it appears similar to genuine examples observed, in my opinion. One of the reasons I don't post often on this forum is the lack of discussion when someone questions one of the frequent posters opinions. I have no interest in debating whether the piece is a fake or not. If it is, it is a good one. I was merely pointing out that the owner might want an in-person inspection from someone knowledgeable in US camouflage, not take the word of someone that doesn't have the item in hand. As Archangel pointed out there are some issues, but by all means this is why we must have the discussion... This reproduction does have a lot of characteristics that are much closer to an original than reproductions produced in the past years. to include saw back brown. But the 3rd style moon packman vs traditional pacman and the pattern to include the subtle extra splotch on the green side that's missing from the brown side is present, usually those 2 are the immediate tells for a reproduction. Color also can be a very hard thing with photographs, yes everyones smart phone has a better camera then we all had spend hundreds on 15 years ago, but lighting still is an art form. And there were color variations with mint ones posted on this forum, 3 separate known "" shades. This isn't one of them. -Peg6 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
