1canpara Posted September 1, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2019 This is an odd one, looks like some rigger attached ear cups that were badly stitched, but the interesting feature is the apparently hand-crafted leather USMC EGA patch on the front. Very unique looking helmet. I dont have it in hand yet, (these are the sellers photos) but a trusted forum member has had a close look at it for me and says it looks legit ??? Wake1941 Posted September 1, 2019 Share #2 Posted September 1, 2019 The EGA looks more 50s/60s to me, but Ive never seen one sewn on this way either
Baron3-6 Posted September 1, 2019 Share #3 Posted September 1, 2019 The EGA looks more 50s/60s to me, but Ive never seen one sewn on this way either Agree - EGA looks much later than the helmet. Looks like something assembled for a display piece much later. I'd also add that the ear cup stitching looks very fresh - they sell loose ear cups on ebay quite often. 1canpara Posted September 1, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted September 1, 2019 Anything is possible, but I thought it was worth the shot for something that’s a little different. The ear cups concern me more than the EGA patch, but again, there are so many things we haven’t seen or have photographic evidence of, I figure that there’s always a chance a pilot customised his helmet.
