otter42 Posted August 30, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 30, 2019 Friend of mine has this, and I'm stumped. Couldn't find anything close on a internet search. Can't make out what it says around War Baby. I was thinking it was something given to girls for Liberty War Bond drive. The lady he got it from said it was from WWI. Looks like there may have been a stamp on the foot as well. Thanks for any help. Ken

Blacksmith Posted August 30, 2019 Share #4 Posted August 30, 2019 Look at it with infrared, that will make the stamp more legible.
RustyCanteen Posted August 30, 2019 Share #5 Posted August 30, 2019 It definitely seems to say 'WAR BABY' on it, but I wasn't able to find anything about it when searching old newspapers. There do seem to have been 'war baby dolls' around WWI, but nothing with a description that seems to match this. And the WWII years did not really seem to bring up anything hinting at it either. otter42 Posted August 30, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted August 30, 2019 Thanks for searching too. I don't have a infrared light, I'll try my camera, and see if it can do any better.
