sprprops Posted August 29, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 29, 2019 Pretty interesting studio portrait I found in a footlocker belonging to a WWII African American cook. Not sure why he has an M1942 jump jacket and no idea when or where this picture was taken but I know he spent the end of the war in Germany and Belgium. iron bender Posted August 30, 2019 Share #2 Posted August 30, 2019 Really interesting. I've looked at this a couple times today thinking about it. I almost wonder if he arrived at studio for pic, wanted a pic in a field jacket, and the photographer had this jump jacket on hand. I can guarantee you that in the book 'Green Devils', those FJ troopers are all wearing the same gear, smock, helmet, and same sub-gun. Studios, going back to the Civil War, had 'gear' for the subject in the photo. My .

Austin R Posted August 30, 2019 Share #5 Posted August 30, 2019 Great photo, and I have another possible theory. He could have been part of the 555th where he received the jacket. He then could have transferred to a quartermasters unit overseas while still owning the jacket. Far fetched, but you never know. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/555th_Parachute_Infantry_Battalion_(United_States)
