manayunkman Posted August 27, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted August 27, 2019 The Fokker G-1 my dad made during the war. He lived in Holland and collected aluminum from crash sites. Part of a wing to a British plane fell on their roof.
scottiques Posted August 27, 2019 Share #7 Posted August 27, 2019 Love your new one-- amazing quality! The family piece is fantastic as well. Nice to have one that can be confirmed as trench art! Scott

scottiques Posted August 27, 2019 Share #12 Posted August 27, 2019 Scott, these are some great pieces. Would love to see some more close-ups of the showcase. Here are two links to my posting with the two display cases: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/316822-trench-art-display/ http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/316826-trench-art-display-2/ I can add some close ups, if there is a particular item or shelf that you'd like to see in detail. scottiques Posted August 28, 2019 Share #14 Posted August 28, 2019 Scott, these are some great pieces. Would love to see some more close-ups of the showcase. Here is a close up of the one that got me started on collecting trench art airplanes. Bought this one almost 30 years ago: It is the smallest P-38 that I have ever seen 2 1/2" from tail to tip of fuselage and a 3 1/4" wingspan. Its' size is more typical of my WW1 era planes. The base is a 1942, 40mm naval shell. The wings were cut from aircraft plexiglass and are 6 1/2". The plane is held to the base with a nail and despite its somewhat crude appearance it is the original.

TBMflyer Posted August 31, 2019 Share #16 Posted August 31, 2019 Been collecting these for years now, usually find them at antique stores as opposed to militaria shows. First pic is most of the collection, second is of a P-51A or A-36. Mark
TBMflyer Posted August 31, 2019 Share #17 Posted August 31, 2019 The B-17 is cool in that it has inlaid green and red plastic where windows would be. The C-54 is Berlin Airlift/Korean War era is marked to the 53rd Troop Carrier Squadron. The B-26 is marked Sardinia, 1944 on the base. scottiques Posted September 1, 2019 Share #18 Posted September 1, 2019 Nice cast grouping! I really like the details on the B-17. Scott
manayunkman Posted September 1, 2019 Author Share #19 Posted September 1, 2019 Scott you have a collection to die for and aspire to. That would truly classify as trench art. Mark thanks so much for posting those excellent examples. Because of the cast plane I got from dad my heart soars when I see others. Your B-26s look a lot like the one I pictured. What does the bottom of them where they attach to the stand look like? Thank you guys for taking the time to add to the post.

manayunkman Posted September 4, 2019 Author Share #24 Posted September 4, 2019 Mark thanks for the great idea of making your own stands. Here is my entire collection all up in the air.
TBMflyer Posted September 4, 2019 Share #25 Posted September 4, 2019 Manay, the Beaufighter and P-61 ones are original to the pieces. I did make the ones for the B-17 and bullet P-38. To answer your question re: the B-26, the stand has a post and the model has a hole in it. BTW, love the piece your dad made, that is killer.
