Inherited this photo dated March of 1945 but I cant tell what branch the soldier is in? Artillery? Just a bunch of weird insignia I havent seen before. Any help would be appreciated.

First World War and Interwar Austrian Uniforms, Insignia, and the like

Second World War Sicilian Campaign Named Uniforms (3rd and 45th Infantry Divisions)

I believe the uniform is that used by Kemper Military School & College. Kemper Military School & College was a private military school located in Boonville, Missouri. Founded in 1844, Kemper filed for bankruptcy and closed in 2002. Known as the "West Point of the West", the school's motto was "Nunquam Non Paratus" (Never Not Prepared).

 

If you'll notice the badge/emblem on the hat in photo it looks like Kemper's symbol. Also, the jacket looks to be close match.
