gophergrove Posted August 25, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2019 Hello everyone My father was US Army and my father in-law was US Navy in WW2 and my wife's grandfather was US Army in WW1. We are putting together shadow boxes for each one and have and will have numerous questions. We have separation papers for both WW2 vets and need a little help deciphering them. Which sub forum would that be? As far as unit insignia goes where to post questions about which shoulder patches and other insignia they are entitled to? Thank you
Salvage Sailor Posted August 25, 2019 Share #2 Posted August 25, 2019 Aloha and welcome to the forum, As a starting point, I would post the information that you have on your family members in the Individual and Unit Research section of the forum. There you will find members who will decipher the separation papers, DD-214's, etc., and also be able to identify the appropriate patches, collar brass, insignia, etc., items that your family member would have worn in their Army and Navy service. From that point we can get more specific on types of shadow boxes, examples of those made by other members and suggestions to further your research. Feel free to post any questions to the forum membership as there are some very helpful folks here.
