beerdragon54 Posted August 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2019 I just got home with this after saving for quite a long time and selling lots and still have more to sell to dry the tears. I haven’t researched him and all I have is word of mouth on some so far. I will be sending away for his records. He was allegedly wounded at Bastogne. I see he had 3 bronze stars. The family kept an engraved one and Purple Heart. The only Nazi souvenir that the guy I bought it from was able to obtain is the German compass that he engraved his information onto. Allegedly all the Nazi stuff and there was tons went to some Buffalo, NY military dealers. This all happened about 10-15 years ago. The man was James G. Pandolfi and he was assigned to HQ battery of Division artillery. A real quick internet search shows he shot and killed a guy in 1961 for breaking into his store and stealing a TV. Said he used a .32, bet it was a Nazi bringback. I don’t have tome to get everything tonight but here is some. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/429166d0aa714cf42ff886f7154edd35.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/b5ea460d4424d5d5d7da77875c5fefec.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/40ba8659ccdf91b596b727035a52dfb8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/ca5b0dd6a21402b14d0dd51a46ab1cce.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/9b4d855517006fbabefce5d4b71a089d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/265386013d85ff5b08d6601e8ea6470a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/e5774868294663e1cad7c356b0b45cff.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/c392748e5d8c0445ae22cec38dbefc63.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Blacksmith Posted August 16, 2019 Share #4 Posted August 16, 2019 Ooooh, that blade-dated M3 is nice. Congrats on a swell group. One note: Multiple BSM awards were denoted by OLCs, not stars?

beerdragon54 Posted August 17, 2019 Author Share #11 Posted August 17, 2019 Did I mention I have his full patched and named jump uniform and wool overcoat that the family said he wore in the Bulge? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
rtepak6 Posted August 17, 2019 Share #12 Posted August 17, 2019 Looking forward to seeing photos of his jump uniform. Would it have been common for a member of the 101st AB Division to have come ashore at Normandy in a landing craft? Dale
beerdragon54 Posted August 17, 2019 Author Share #13 Posted August 17, 2019 I saw where some of 101st came ashore on Utah beach via landing craft that were in the field artillery battalion. That’s the best answer I have to his recollection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BEAST Posted August 18, 2019 Share #14 Posted August 18, 2019 I spoke with a 502nd PIR vet who was a cook in Service Company. He came ashore in a landing craft also. As a matter of fact the only jumps that he made were his 5 qualification jumps.

Allan H. Posted August 28, 2019 Share #17 Posted August 28, 2019 The 101st patch is US made, but it is one of the less common variants. Allan
