Pip Posted August 12, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2019 After seeing a couple of the War Log log books posted here I really wanted to try and find one as I collect paper. I found an auction just labeled Seeing Eye dog stuff with a bunch of old paper and could make out the name on an envelope Elliott Humphrey so I researched him and saw that he was a Animal trainer in WWI and War Dog trainer in WWII and one of the original Seeing Eye Dog Trainers in the US. I was hoping it had a couple War Dog documents and it did. Most of the documents were related to his Seeing Eye Dog training and his original manuscripts but there were 3 folders full of WWII War Dogs items. Posting a few of the documents and if anyone is interested I will try and take photos of the rest .

Pip Posted August 12, 2019 Author Share #18 Posted August 12, 2019 This is the article I found about him that made me look a little closer. https://www.nytimes.com/1981/06/11/obituaries/elliott-humphrey-92-pioneered-in-tutoring-of-guide-dogs-in-us.html
6th.MG.BN Posted August 13, 2019 Share #19 Posted August 13, 2019 Very hard to find War dog items. Was there any other war dog pictures you could share? Thanks for sharing, Ken
Pip Posted August 13, 2019 Author Share #20 Posted August 13, 2019 Thanks! No other photos of the dogs themselves just some of the soldiers themselves a newspaper article. A lot more documents about the different dog training centers in Mississippi , Nebraska one of these was just at an old dump apparently, typed up training manual, letters with War Dog letterheads. Pip Posted August 13, 2019 Author Share #22 Posted August 13, 2019 Thanks! I always look at Eric Queen's War Dog stuff and wished I could find some. Now I just need to find some of the certificates for the dogs themselves. My girlfriend wishes they had War Cats but no such luck only He-man had one of those, way to hard to train cats.
