Vertol Posted August 11, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2019 Hello, I've found this sheath, that has seen better days, for a 5'' blade with 9 nails, a point on the left side and a "United Carr" snap. I am unable to identify formally the knife that is expected for this sheath, most of the ones I've found having a point on the right side, or a loop, or a different snap, or 8 nails, ... I guess it would be something such as USN MKI (Cattauragus 225Q sheath seems to have 8 nails and a different snap), but not sure. Thank you in advance, Regards, Vertol
mikedon Posted August 11, 2019 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2019 It looks like it is for a Camillus Mark 1.

SKIPH Posted August 11, 2019 Share #4 Posted August 11, 2019 As mikedon posted, the majority of MK1s I've seen with that scabbard are Camillus. SKIP

sactroop Posted August 11, 2019 Share #6 Posted August 11, 2019 The sheath was also found on other 5 inch knives supplied by Camillus. I believe this specific style sheath was supplied by Brauer Brothers. You see them matched with other manufactures of 5 inch knives. Whether they were original stock, stocked replacement sheaths, or just mismatched to knives over the years, I wouldn't want to guess. Camillus used several different leather sheaths during the war.
