New Home - New Office/Display Room

Recommended Posts

My family and I recently upgraded to a larger home, which meant a larger office for me :D

Have been working at it for a month now, and It's still a work in progress, but I'm finally able to display my uniforms which have been locked away in storage for years.

Still need several floating shelves, another Detolf, and a couple low display cases to go between the Detolfs. Once everything is in place, I can start hanging some of my framed items. Taking my time with it for now, though.

Will post updates along the way...

Thanks for looking!

I see you bought an Ashley Furniture bookshelf from the Cross Island collection. Why would I know that? I bought almost all those pieces in 2008 after my return from my third deployment to OIF. Only an officer would buy furniture at the end of a deployment! Very nice displays throughout.

WANTED: I collect materials of any age related to the US Army Quartermaster Corps and from the long-defunct Commissary / Subsistence Corps. Anything goes and it doesn't have to be identified to a vet. If it's weird or unusual, please PM me! ASMIC #5650

Congrats on the new home and office/display space! The Ikea Detolf's are great for displays. Keep us updated as things progress

Thanks, Jason! Detolf's are a must for any collection. Inexpensive, and simple.

Eric,

Looks great.. I still see a lot of empty space to fill.... :)

Enjoy your new office space..

Leigh

Thanks, Smitty! Appreciate the kind words!

Looks great. Congrats on the new home.

Thanks, Sundance!

Nice display. Where did you get the cases.

Lifer, the cases are Detolf's from IKEA - https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10119206/

That's a nice looking collection room. You have some great items. Congratulations.

Dennis

Thanks, Dennis!

I want a room like that! I only get the corner of our guest room. ;D Very nice, congrats.

Thanks, jmd! I needed an office as I work from home, so just made sure it was big enough to display the collections.

Great Display/ I just got my room back in order a month ago after it was all up in the bedroom following floods in the Midwest. Luckily, nothing of mine was damaged.

Thanks, Skysoldier.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. couldn't imagine having to deal with that. I hope your home didn't suffer any damage.

... don’t forget the decanter of fine Scotch

I'm a cheap date; perfectly good bottle of Jack Daniel's will work for me (when I'm feeling fancy, I pickup their single barrel).

We actually found the table below in Lancaster, PA, and are having one made for our family room.

Ha! Awesome that you spotted that. I couldn't even remember where we purchased it from until we moved, and I saw the tag on the back.

I do remember purchasing it about year after we moved into our old home, which would have been in the 2008 time frame.

It's served me well all those years; hope yours did as well

And thanks for the kind words!

Is that a Polar Bear helmet I see in the bottom of the one case?....Very nice arrangement...Bodes

Thanks, Bodes.

Yes sir, it is. It's part of a small, named grouping. I shared it on the forum a few years back:

Beautiful

Thank you both for the kind words!

I picked up this antique display cabinet off of Facebook Marketplace that I'm actively restoring to use in the room. After that, I'll need one more Detolf, then plan on adding some shelving on the walls for headgear. Once all of that is complete, I can start hanging framed items on the wall.

Would also like to pickup matching male and female torsos to replace the two I have.

Work in progress, but having fun designing it along the way!
