Hello

I recently picked this helmet up. It is a bit our of my normal area of collecting. It looks as if the original gold and black interior label has another white label sewn over it..It also has a proof mark in two places that appears to be SS 4 (1944?) How does it look? Comments, etc...

Thank you

Did the ball turret gunners also wear these helmets?

Thank you

Any WWII AAF aircrew member could have worn this A-11. Nice helmet - interesting sew-over label? Bobgee

the white label is the postwar, maybe 1960s reissue label...very nice find...the A-11 was used by the USAF years after WWII for the prop guys, altitude chamber, and other various duties..

just saw there was leather sewn on the back nape area for the comm wire...

postwar and post production mod for the wire loom...most likely the fab shop on base or a depot added the loom channel..there are several examples on the forum with the avionics upgrade...I have yet to come across one myself in the wild...but the use of the A11 post war is pretty well documented elsewhere..
