KommandoPost Posted August 1, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 1, 2019 I bought this today at a swap meet, obviously for the Top Gun movie connection (VF 51 was one of the real squadrons that flew in the original movie). Does anyone know approximately what dates the patches came from? I know it has to be before 1995 since that's when VF 51 was deestablished according to its wikipedia article. KommandoPost Posted August 1, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted August 1, 2019 1980's civilian made coat Thanks. I figured the jacket wouldn't be part of a military contract since there were probably more modern alternatives in synthetic materials available by the 1980's. Are the patches at least authentic (both the patches themselves and the arrangement on the jacket)?
Stony Posted August 1, 2019 Share #4 Posted August 1, 2019 And it's a G-1, not G-2.
HUD69 Posted August 6, 2019 Share #5 Posted August 6, 2019 Nice commercial jacket, but the Topgun patch is an obvious fake. The other ones are having that used look, so can't be sure of those. Cheers,Ron
