Very cool pin with the engraving, I hope they all made it through. This particular sweetheart came in 2 different sizes. The larger version is almost 2 3/4" wide while the smaller lapel pin is only 3/4" across. The larger pin turns up on a regular basis but I have only seen the small size once.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Always wondered about the symbolism of the inverted V in these - Mason perhaps?

Hi Scott, I'm not positive but I believe the inverted V actually represents a Chevron. As far as symbolism, the chevron represents the roof of a house, derived from the French word 'chevron' meaning rafter. It signifies protection. The chevron was granted to those who had participated in some notable enterprise, had built churches or fortresses, or had accomplished some work requiring faithful service. So to make it short with regards to this pin, I think it represents faithful service to our country.

Thanks aznation, I can see what you're saying, and it makes sense here. My vision is jaded by all the V-for-victory pins that were so prevalent at the time.
