VMI88 Posted July 31, 2019 Share #3 Posted July 31, 2019 That is a really cool pin - I've never seen that design before, and being engraved really makes it special.

Kilroy56 Posted July 31, 2019 Author Share #5 Posted July 31, 2019 Unfortunately not. I just hope they all came through.
trenchrat1918 Posted July 31, 2019 Share #6 Posted July 31, 2019 Very cool pin with the engraving, I hope they all made it through. This particular sweetheart came in 2 different sizes. The larger version is almost 2 3/4" wide while the smaller lapel pin is only 3/4" across. The larger pin turns up on a regular basis but I have only seen the small size once. Scott C. Posted August 4, 2019 Share #8 Posted August 4, 2019 Always wondered about the symbolism of the inverted V in these - Mason perhaps?
aznation Posted August 4, 2019 Share #9 Posted August 4, 2019 Posted Today, 09:24 PM Always wondered about the symbolism of the inverted V in these - Mason perhaps? Edited by Scott C., Today, 09:25 PM. Scott Hi Scott, I'm not positive but I believe the inverted V actually represents a Chevron. As far as symbolism, the chevron represents the roof of a house, derived from the French word 'chevron' meaning rafter. It signifies protection. The chevron was granted to those who had participated in some notable enterprise, had built churches or fortresses, or had accomplished some work requiring faithful service. So to make it short with regards to this pin, I think it represents faithful service to our country.
Scott C. Posted August 4, 2019 Share #10 Posted August 4, 2019 Thanks aznation, I can see what you're saying, and it makes sense here. My vision is jaded by all the V-for-victory pins that were so prevalent at the time.
