WW2 Army Specialist Corps

Recent estate sale find. Limited information on the internet. Anyone have a picture of their uniform? Also, what I found on line said the B.O.S. was in gray plastic. These obviously aren't. Marked GEMSCO/N.Y. on the reverse.

I've never found a reason why this plastic cap eagle was made with a gold, or gilt finish. The standard was a silver-colored plastic insignia instead. This one is on eBay now, though it is mislabeled as Army Service Corps: https://www.ebay.com/itm/325036116055
