okidonn Posted July 15, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 15, 2019 This is a June 1945 photo of what is identified as an E7 female Marine, looking for confirmation as to the identification? Would an E7 female be called a Gunny back in WWII?
Bruce Linz Posted July 15, 2019 Share #2 Posted July 15, 2019 That is not a Woman Marine. She is a WAC and her rank is Technical Sergeant. Marines did not wear collar disks during WWII.
cutiger83 Posted July 16, 2019 Share #3 Posted July 16, 2019 I agree this is a WAC not a Marine. The collar disc instead of EGA is the give away. Bruce, I think you meant to say Marines did not wear collar discs. Kat
Lee Ragan Posted July 16, 2019 Share #4 Posted July 16, 2019 And just for the record, in 1945 there was no such thing as an "E-7", she was a Tech Sgt. which was in the 2nd grade. The pay grade numbering system in use today didn't come along till about 1947 or so.
