JimD Posted June 26, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 26, 2019 These are three items brought back by Robert G. of Wisconsin who served with the 3rd Division form 1941 to 1945. I assume he saw action in most of that famous and bloodied Division's campaigns. These are just three of many items that recently came into the possession of a friend directly from the veteran's family. I am happy to be the custodian of the hard-earned trophies of war. As I mentioned on our sister World Militaria Forum, without provenance I would have walked right past the enlisted man's SS buckle at a show since it remains in 100% un-issued condition and loos to good to be real. The SS Officers buckle and belt are about 98%. The Anti-Partisan Badge has some wear and was obviously issued and worn. It is a second pattern. USCapturephotos Posted June 26, 2019 Share #5 Posted June 26, 2019 I love the 3rd! By chance do you know what regiment he was in? That antipartisan badge is amazing. Thanks for showing us. Paul
JimD Posted June 26, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted June 26, 2019 I do not know his unit but I will be investigating. I have only had these items a few weeks. I hesitate posting last names in case it prompts over-zealous collectors to contact the family to see if more items are available. In this case, they sent everything they had to my buddy but still, I want to protect their privacy. Jim
sundance Posted June 26, 2019 Share #7 Posted June 26, 2019 Beautiful items - and you say there's more? We'll be looking forward to seeing them.
JimD Posted June 26, 2019 Author Share #8 Posted June 26, 2019 Yes there are more but I could only acquire these three. You know, mortgage, kids tuition, food: those nuisance expenses that get in the way.
