Don't know if it's original or not, but THEY did a great job. Stencil says 91st INF DIV. Front badge says; Wards - Hawthorn.

Johan Willaert Posted June 18, 2019 Share #6 Posted June 18, 2019 This is a typical example of a period bicycle painted OD for re-enactment or display purposes... The only US Army contract bicycles druring WW2 were made by Huffman and Westfield Columbia, and yes, some other makes may well have been used on base after being purchased locally, but they wouldn't have been OD from the factory.. patches Posted June 18, 2019 Share #7 Posted June 18, 2019 Well the marking there on the meat can pouch is for a 91st Division unit, the 347th Field Artillery Regiment.
patches Posted June 18, 2019 Share #8 Posted June 18, 2019 And it must be pointed out the the WWI Infantry Divisions were not title "Infantry Divisions" simply Divisions. it was a at various dates in 1942 the the Divisions, were retitled Infantry Divisions, a few of the Reserve Divisions where reactivated as Infantry Division in their title, the 91st Division was one of them, reactvated 15 August 1942 as the 91st Infantry Division. patches Posted June 19, 2019 Share #9 Posted June 19, 2019 post-9131-0-49057600-1560833475.jpg Well the marking there on the meat can pouch is for a 91st Division unit, the 347th Field Artillery Regiment. Another thing we noticed, that Meat Can Pouch, it's a WWII one, WWI one's had buttons. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3026-m1910-haversacks/ http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/217962-help-with-wwi-meat-can-pouch/
phantomfixer Posted June 19, 2019 Share #10 Posted June 19, 2019 The guy did a good job on it...It looks like he used a period correct frame...most of the time, seen at shows are post war era frames.......the G519 bicycle is very hard to come across...and early bikes were civilian production line IIRC the story, and painted OD.....the way to tell is the SN under the sprocket carrier https://forums.g503.com/viewtopic.php?t=164423
Bibble Eyes Posted November 18, 2022 Share #11 Posted November 18, 2022 I saw that SAME EXACT bike at that antique shop a couple years ago up in Oregon. I was so tempted to buy it but there was no way for me to haul it home and then what would I do with it haha. I'm always on the lookout for 347th F.A. items and when I saw this I got goosebumps
