BigJohn#3RD Posted July 21, 2019 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2019 Vince, Yes, a large number of WWI Marine GCM's have only had a rim number due to the expansion of the Corps to meet WWI requirements to fill the ranks and just about everyone who served even for a few months received a GCM. So unless you have the issue document, it is hard to determine who originally owned the medal. There is an incomplete list out there, but it has many gaps.
