I ran across this book on Amazon (all 5 star reviews) and finished it in a weekend. An excellent read, well-written, by a guy who knew how to craft a story. It’s WW2 history from a personal point of view. He details his training, post D-Day combat operations in Europe, and post-war occupation (and more combat) in the Philippines. There’s often humor and and horror in adjacent paragraphs. It isn’t “Saving Private Ryan”, but there’s plenty of action, and more akin to the reality most grunts faced. There’s a bit of cussing, but he was infantry. I got the e-book, but it’s in paperback, too.
