C-47 Miss Montana Returns to the Air for D-Day 75th

Recommended Posts

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/d-day-75th-anniversary-miss-montana-flight-to-normandy/

CBS story about a 1944 vintage C-47 that has been in a museum for the last 18 years and restored to flying condition to participate in the D-Day 75th Anniversary celebration and fly over.

Although not used in combat, it was later used for air dropping smoke jumpers over Montana wild fires.

I didn't know this story, but here're some pictures (showing the C47s) I took during the commemoration in Normandy that year...

Having a good 600mm camera helps for long range shots :)
