Vietnam Bring Backs

Some 7 years ago I made a posting on the SKS Presentation Rifle awarded to my father while in Vietnam. Here is the link: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/150729-viet-nam-presentation-rifle/

I have been documenting more of my father's military items that he accrued over 38 1/2 years of service and I am now into the Vietnam era, completing both WWII and Korea.. My father was Commander of the 5th/22nd Artillery Battalion back in 1967-1968 which brought the M107 or 175mm SP guns into the Vietnam fray. They originally trained at Ft. Irwin, CA, (Death Valley) to better hone their skills. In photographing these items for my own family documentation, I thought I would also share these items with you.

Here is a photo of 1 of the 13 M107 in my Dad's Battalion.

Another pouch but for what I do not know for sure. Interesting to see what was tucked inside this pouch - perhaps my Dad dreamed of acquiring but alas, with 9 children he had to go VW Bus route - LOL.

This is a very interesting VC canteen - as bamboo was fairly abundant in Vietnam this certainly was more economical.

Last few - the last photo is the FO Officer spotting accuracy of rounds but look to his left leaning on the rock - this is your new M16 rifle being tested by the Officer's of this Battalion.

This pouch looks to be for a drum magazine for the RPD series of light machine guns.

Very interesting lot, not much like this ever seen and a good reminder what we were up against. The " 122mm rocket fuze " pouch has a US training bazooka warhead in it, I could not help noticing it.
