Normandy1944

This set of 2 USMC dress uniforms is currently in my collection.

It belonged to a veterean who also fought in WWII.

Is anyone able to identify who the soldier was?

It is named to a J E Reilly.

And could someone list all the different ribbons on the jackets?

I don't know every ribbon.

Thanks in advance!

My guess is it's John E. Reilly 268625 who was with the 11th Marines in both WWII and Korea. Hard to tell as there are many, but as of the 50s there is a Marine with this name who is a senior NCO. To have that many unit citations and what I think is a silver campaign star on the Korea ribbon it makes sense for him. G/3/11 in WWII and L/4/11 in Korea.

Looks like the 11th was at Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Peleliu and Okinawa. They were on the Pusan perimeter and the Chosin during the Korean War. China service looks to be post-WWII as the 11th was in Tianjin from 45-47. Hard to say which battle during WWII he was not at, but in the scheme of things, does it really matter.

Also looks like he got in some trouble in 44', but he was reinstated with notes that he was reenlisting.
