36thIDAlex Posted June 6, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 6, 2019 I believe I have posted on these briefly before but I couldn’t find the post and have learned much more since I first received them. These two coats belonged to Captain William F Kenney, C Company, 115th Regiment , 29th Division. Kenney and his men landed at 1025 on June 6th at Fox Green Beach at Omaha. After helping to secure the site, they pushed onwards to the south of St. Laurent, getting there by dark. They suffered heavy fire from mortars, snipers, machine guns, and anything else the Germans could throw at them. He became company commander two weeks after the initial landings and continued on in this capacity until the end of the war. Kenney would be awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, and the Croix de Guerre with Star and oak leaves. These uniforms mean a lot to me, as this man hails from Paris, Kentucky. It is always inspiring for me to see the valor of our Kentucky boys during the war. His ribbons The 115th landing on the beach
