Marktk36thIL Posted May 21, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 21, 2019 M1817 Artillery Musket (Type II) with alteration to percussion by Daniel C. Hodgkins of Macon, Georgia for Confederate usage. This model of Federsl musket was not documented in Confederate Rifles and Muskets, so it is hard to determine how many m1817 Artillery Muskets were ever altered for Confederate usage. M1817 Artillery Muskets had just over 1,000 produced, including 200 for use at the US Military Academy (Type 1). This particular musket was made in Harpers Ferry in 1820, and still has a good portion of browning under the barrel.

scottiques Posted May 26, 2019 Share #3 Posted May 26, 2019 Great looking musket-- if you have the time and inclination, I'd like to see some of the markings that identify the conversion. Scott
